Sergio Rodriguez-Castillo
“Remember, you are loved. Whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.”
His Role
Sergio co-facilitates Beckley’s retreats and ceremonies. Sergio is a born and raised Mexican living in the US. He holds a Mexican JD, a UK LLM, and two master’s degrees in Integral Counseling and East-West Psychology. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in East-West Psychology at CIIS, writing his dissertation on developing a blueprint for the training of psychedelic-assisted therapists. He has been core faculty at CIIS’ Integral Counseling Psychology, the Center for Consciousness Medicine, and AMPYDET’s Transpersonal Master’s degree. He also served as a mentor in CIIS’ Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies and Research certificate program. He is a MAPS MDMA-Assisted Therapy Practitioner and a licensed MFT in private practice, focusing on existential growth and consciousness expansion.
His Story
Before becoming a psychotherapist and guide, he practiced law for 12 years in the world’s largest law firm. Searching for meaning and better ways to be of service, Sergio traveled to India to train in psycho-spirituality at the Sadhana Institute, Osho’s ashram, and the Ramakrishna Mission. He also apprenticed with a Mazatec healer (curandera) in Mexico for over ten years and is deeply connected to the Indigenous healing practices in Mexico. He has been actively involved in the entheogens field, facilitating, teaching, developing curricula, and mentoring guides for over 18 years.
His Why
Sergio has always been interested in the place where psychology and spirituality come together. Psychedelics seem to be the best tool to make this happen. His life-long goal is to help people re-discover who they truly are, to help them remember that they are already whole and deeply loved.
